Biography - Irma Van Oirschot

I am an avid photographer dabbling in film and now digital photography for over 25 years. Being also an active gardener gave me my first and primary interest in photography providing wonderful subject matter for close-up and macro photographic experiences. While flowers were my first love, I have also become very interested in landscape photography and now thoroughly enjoy this field of work.

From the tops of mountains to strolling along the ocean sea shores, climbing on glaciers to walking through meadows, all have something to offer the minds-eye that translate into photographic opportunities. I strive to be artistic since I do not immerse myself into the technical side of photography. A camera is the tool I use for my art, not the interest that holds me to photography. The pixels do not excite me, only the images that they capture for me. Like all photographers, I still look forward to capturing that perfect picture.

I have done photography professionally in the past, weddings in particular, but I find that satisfying somebody else's definitions of beautiful is not as rewarding as satisfying my own ideals.
