LOWEPRO DEVELOPES ANOTHER INDUSTRY FIRST:  THE NEW DRYZONE ROVER BACKPACK SAFELY COMBINES A HYDRATION SYSTEM WITH CAMERA EQUIPMENT

A Split Level Backpack Combines Waterproof Camera Protection With Personal Storage And A Hydration System To Create A Perfect Solution For Any Outdoor Adventure

Santa Rosa, CA – October 20, 2005 –

Lowepro, the worldwide leader of protective cases and backpacks for imaging products and a 35-year history of “industry firsts,” continues to revolutionize the industry and exceed photographer’s expectations with the introduction of its new DryZone Rover backpack.  The new backpack is the first of its kind to incorporate a hydration system with a camera carrying solution.  The result is a versatile bag for outdoor and adventure photographers to rely on in some of the most extreme conditions in the world, as they have done with Lowepro for more than 35 years.

Designed for quick and easy access to equipment and personal gear in the upper compartment, the DryZone Rover’s lower compartment is kept completely waterproof by utilizing a unique T-Zip® EasySeal zipper and a rubber-coated nylon DryPod with heat sealed seams.  In addition to being waterproof, the DryZone Rover is buoyancy-certified to 35 pounds and allows photographers to work in extreme environments without fear of losing the entire backpack and its contents if dropped into water.

The included hydration system, designed by Hydrapack, is a lightweight water reservoir made from strong, taste-free polyurethane. With a capacity of up to 50 ounces it keeps photographers hydrated while hiking or on the go.  The Velcro™ sealed wide mouth opening makes it fast to fill and easy to clean. An EasyFlo Shut-Off Bite Valve completely seals the valve for safe usage around camera equipment or other electronic devices.

“The DryZone Rover backpack is the most versatile backpack for protecting digital imaging equipment available today,” said Uwe Mummenhoff, President of Lowepro.

“It provides outdoor, adventure and travel photographers at all levels with added protection and greater flexibility and mobility by incorporating features not found on any other photo backpack.  The new HydraPak Hydration System is another first for Lowepro and another way we are helping photographers protect their equipment and peripherals so they can concentrate on their photography,” Mr. Mummenhoff added.

The new DryZone Rover backpack includes a number of other features that have made Lowepro products an overwhelming favorite among professional photographers worldwide.  Hailed by photographers for their extreme comfort and ergonomic design, the DryZone Rover incorporates Lowepro’s contoured shoulder harness, padded waist belt, and DryFlo? padded back panel to provide balance, comfort and even weight distribution during long treks.

The DryZone Rover also includes many features designed specifically for digital photographers including built-in memory card holders for quick access and safe storage; laminated mesh pockets and removable accessory pouches for storing power cables, adaptors and other digital accessories.

The new Lowepro DryZone Rover backpack will be available in either a Grey/Black or Yellow/Black color scheme.
