While wandering within the forest on Petrie Island, I came upon this jumble of trees that looked so cold.

The snow-covered bench was not overly inviting, but it was a sign that winter doesn't last forever.

This edge of the Ottawa River shows that spring was not far away.

The murky-brown of the melting river left a strange contrast to the white snow everywhere else.

This pathway leading to a summer ritual, a picnic table, seemed so out of place.

The ripples of the running river is a tell-tale sign that life is starting to return to a more active time.

This small creek just down the road a few minutes away from Petrie Island also shows the start of springtime.
The End
